U.S. Men’s National Team to Compete in Play for Parkinson’s Showcase

Team USA to take on Loyola, Towson and hold intrasquad scrimmage Oct. 5

BALTIMORE, Sept. 16, 2013 — In the U.S. Men’s National Team’s first on-field action since naming its 52-player training roster earlier this month, the team will participate in the Play for Parkinson’s event on Oct. 5 in Alexandria, Va.

Team USA will divide its roster into two squads that will play three games throughout the day at Episcopal High School. First, Team USA White will face off against 2012 NCAA champion Loyola, followed by Team USA Blue taking on 2012 CAA Tournament champion Towson. Later in the afternoon, the two sides will meet for an intrasquad scrimmage, highlighting a day of competition that also includes Air Force, Georgetown and Richmond. Free admission is available for all games, with donations encouraged to support the ProjectSpark Foundation.

Game Schedule
12 p.m. – Team USA White vs. Loyola
2 p.m. – Team USA Blue vs. Towson
4 p.m. – Team USA intrasquad scrimmage

Play for Parkinson’s is the first of several fall and winter training events for Team USA, culminating with Champion Challenge, a US Lacrosse event, where players will battle for 23 spots on the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship roster. The annual event will be hosted Jan. 24-26 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The reigning world champion U.S. Men’s National Team will compete for a record 10th world title at the FIL World Championship, hosted by US Lacrosse on July 10-19, 2014, in Denver, Colo.
