Vail Lacrosse Shootout Day Six


Thursday marked the beginning the second half of the tournament. In what was by far the busiest day of the 40th annual Vail Lacrosse Shootout, 55 teams competed in 59 games, on 12 fields, in four divisions across the Vail valley.

The Dr. Tom Watts Memorial U-19 High School Boys Showcase kicked off in Avon and Eagle Vail. In the HS Boys division FCA, Brady’s Bunch, NE 3D Select and Team Colorado won their conferences and will take the top seeds into the championship bracket.

The U-19 High School Girls Showcase took over four fields for it first day of pool play. Friday will see the second day of pool play for the U-19 girls, then they will break into gold, silver and bronze brackets.

On Ford Field, Athletic Field, and in Donovan Park, the Supermasters (40+) and the Grandmasters (50+) tournaments got underway. The Grandmasters semi-finals will take place tomorrow in Ford Park at 8:30 am. In the Ford West semi-final, the Eldest Statesmen (’09, ’10 & ’11 champions) will take on Middlebury. In the Ford East semi-final the Gravediggers face Los Viejos.

The Supermasters were split into four pools to start the tournament. C2C Magic Wands (2011 champions), Elder Statesmen, Yellow Dog and Millennium / Rock-it Pocket – all won their respective division will have the top seeds in tomorrow’s quarter finals in Ford Park at 12:30pm & 2:30pm.

At 4:30pm the Zenmasters (60+) will have an exhibition on Ford Field.
