Jovan Miller Wand for Virgina Game in Carrier Dome

Jovan Miller will be playing with a heavy heart tonight against arch rival Virginia Cavaliers. He will be playing in loving memory of a friend and former classmate at Syracuse.

Daily Orange reports a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and former student in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management died Saturday night.

Philip Alcott, who enrolled at Syracuse University in fall 2009 but did not return to campus this academic year, was a Syracuse resident. Thomas Wolfe, senior vice president and dean of student affairs, did not comment on the cause of death.

When asked about the significance behind the head Jovan replied on Facebook:

Jovan felt a good way to remember his friend would be to dye his initials on a new Nike head for the upcoming game. Across the scoop it reads “Enjoy Life”. The head was strung by teammate, Josh Amidon.

Look for Jovan playing with this stick tonight against the Wahoos at 6PM in the Carrier Dome. The game will air on ESPNU.
