BERKELEY - With her first season in Berkeley on the horizon, California’s first-year lacrosse head coach Ginger Miles named four veterans as team captains and announced the schedule for the 2012 season. Fifth-year senior Emily Abbood and seniors Tara Arolla, Tori Harrison and Vail Horn will captain the Golden Bears during a season that features four opponents who played in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, six home games and the Feb. 19 opener at Saint Mary’s. SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Seniors Sarah Holden (Syracuse, N.Y.), Janelle Stegeland (Cortland, N.Y.), Jill Cammett (Norwell, Mass.) and junior Michelle Tumolo (Mullica Hill, N.J.) have been named captains for the 2012 Syracuse squad, head coach Gary Gait announced on Thursday. The Women’s Sports Foundation’s 32nd Annual Salute to Women in Sports was a huge success last night. One of the biggest highlights was USA Soccer's Abby Wambach taking home the Winner of the Sportswoman of the Year Award for a Team Sport. September 19, 2011 - The High Point University women's lacrosse team is dedicating its 2012 season to Mason LaVack, the Panthers' No. 1 fan who passed away from cancer in early September. The team adopted Mason through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and he participated in team activities for the past two years. Read More...

The University of Georgia hired Greg McGarity as Director of Athletics a year ago, and for some reason there's lacrosse buzz down south right now. As the former Executive Associate Athletic Director at the University of Florida, McGarity made the push for Women's Lacrosse. We would love to see another SEC school get Division 1 lacrosse. The former California lacrosse player, currently an MBA candidate at the Haas School of Business, recently received a prestigious Oscar Geballe Postgraduate Scholarship, which includes a $5,000 stipend and recognizes Geballe's devotion to Cal and his strong belief in the value of combining scholarship and intercollegiate athletic competition.
